Snap

This is a joint crime and community message from Maidstone & District Neighbourhood Watch and Mid Kent Maidstone Police. We would like to inform you of the following information for your area.

Exams have ended and summer has begun, so kick off your school holiday at Snap Disco with some of the hottest up and coming bands such as RnB sensation Rd Ruff Diamond and Nu Brand Flexxx with supporting acts by Frixon.

To provide a great night out for young people ages 11 to 17, Snap disco is held in collaboration with Kent Police and Crimestoppers as part of a say no to drugs campaign. At Snap dance nights, security is a top priority, so you and all your friends can listen to live music and meet new people in a very safe environment.

So come and have some fun and a dance at Maidstone Mote park leisure centre on Friday 16th July from 7pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased at your school or at the Leisure centre in advance or on the door on the night.

Snap dance nights have been successfully running for 12 years with up to 800 young people attending each gig. The club night is also in association with Kent Fire and Rescue services, the British Red Cross, Water for work and Maidstone Lions club.

Paul Richardson, the schools liaison officer for Mid Kent commented: "We hope that kids will really enjoy Snap disco and will feel safe at the same time. Holding these club nights provides a place to go for younger people who cannot get into the other clubs in Maidstone. Furthermore, we hope that it will let the younger generation know that they can enjoy Maidstone's night life in a safe and secure environment and further our campaign to say no to drugs."

If you have any information in connection with any of these messages or you would like to talk to anyone please call Lorraine on 01622 604395.

22nd World Scout Jamboree

In July 2011, a green grassy field outside the town of Kristianstad in southern Sweden will be turned into a bustling town of more than 30,000 people and Sam Green a local lad has been offered a once in a life time opportunity to attend the 22nd World Scout Jamboree.

He’s a lucky chap to be part of the biggest scouting camping event that only happens once every 4 years and you can only go once in your life!

However, Sam needs to raise at least £1,500 in sponsorship to be able to attend and he needs your help please. Are you a local business? Are you able to sponsor Sam?

Once the two and a half week trip is over, Sam will be travelling round the UK showing off his pictures and telling everyone his wonderful experiences. Any help you can think of to get Sam to his £1,500 target would be very much appreciated.

Contact Sam on greens05@klz.org.uk.
